Char Dham yatra

Day 1

Arrival in Chandigarh/Delhi | Pick-up from Himachal Pradesh

  • Activities: Meet and greet upon arrival at Chandigarh/Delhi Airport/ISBT. Clients from Himachal (e.g., Shimla, Mandi, Kangra) can be picked up from pre-designated points. Assemble and begin the road journey to Haridwar.

  • Travel: Drive from Chandigarh to Haridwar (~200 km / 5-6 hrs) or Delhi to Haridwar (~250 km / 6-7 hrs).

  • Evening: Attend the sacred Ganga Aarti at Har Ki Pauri. A spiritually uplifting start to the journey.

  • Meals: Dinner.

  • Overnight: Stay in a standard, clean hotel in Haridwar.

Day 2

Haridwar → Barkot (Base for Yamunotri)

  • Morning: After breakfast, depart for Barkot. Enjoy scenic views of the Himalayas.

  • Travel: Drive ~180 km / 6-7 hrs.

  • Enroute: Visit Prakateshwar Cave (a natural Shivling formation) near Mussoorie.

  • Evening: Check into the hotel in Barkot. Rest and acclimatize to the altitude.

  • Meals: Breakfast & Dinner.

  • Overnight: Stay in Barkot.

Day 3

Barkot → Yamunotri → Barkot

  • Morning: Early drive to Janki Chatti (~40 km / 1.5 hrs). From here, begin the trek to Yamunotri Temple (6 km one-way).

  • Yatra: Clients can trek, hire a pony, or take a palanquin (palki/doli) at their own cost.

  • Darshan: Take a holy dip in the warm waters of Surya Kund, cook rice in the hot water (as prasad), and have darshan of Goddess Yamuna.

  • Evening: Trek back to Janki Chatti and drive back to Barkot.

  • Meals: Breakfast & Dinner.

  • Overnight: Stay in Barkot.

Day 4

Barkot → Uttarkashi (Base for Gangotri)

  • Morning: After breakfast, drive to Uttarkashi.

  • Travel: Drive ~100 km / 4-5 hrs.

  • Afternoon: Check into the hotel. Visit the famous Vishwanath Temple in Uttarkashi town.

  • Evening: Free for rest and preparation for the next day's journey.

  • Meals: Breakfast & Dinner.

  • Overnight: Stay in Uttarkashi.

Day 5

Uttarkashi → Gangotri → Uttarkashi

  • Morning: Very early start for a day trip to Gangotri (~100 km / 3-4 hrs one-way). Drive along the Bhagirathi River.

  • Darshan: Take a holy dip in the icy waters of the Ganges, perform puja, and have darshan at the Gangotri Temple.

  • Optional: Trek 2 km to Submerged Shivling (Bhagirath Shila) (seasonal, visible in winter).

  • Evening: Drive back to Uttarkashi.

  • Meals: Breakfast & Dinner.

  • Overnight: Stay in Uttarkashi.

Day 6

Uttarkashi → Guptkashi / Sitapur

  • Morning: Long but picturesque drive towards Kedarnath.

  • Travel: Drive ~220 km / 8-9 hrs. The route offers breathtaking views.

  • Evening: Check into a hotel in Guptkashi or the quieter Sitapur (closer to Sonprayag).

  • Meals: Breakfast & Dinner.

  • Overnight: Stay in Guptkashi/Sitapur.

Day 7

Guptkashi → Kedarnath

  • Morning: Drive to Sonprayag (~30 mins). From Sonprayag, take a shared jeep to Gaurikund (5 km, if road is open). At Gaurikund, the trek begins.

  • Trek: 16 km trek to Kedarnath. Clients can choose to trek, ride a pony, or book a helicopter service (highly recommended to pre-book helicopter tickets for clients to save time and effort, this can be a value-added service from Eklavya Travels).

  • Darshan: Upon arrival, check into a basic lodge or pre-arranged tents. Visit the majestic Kedarnath Temple for evening darshan.

  • Meals: Breakfast & Dinner.

  • Overnight: Stay in Kedarnath (accommodation is very basic due to the high altitude).

Day 8

Kedarnath → Guptkashi / Rudraprayag

  • Morning: Attend morning Aarti at the temple (optional). Begin the descent back to Gaurikund/Sonprayag.

  • Travel: Meet the vehicle and drive to Guptkashi or Rudraprayag for a night halt.

  • Evening: Check into the hotel. Rest and recover from the trek.

  • Meals: Breakfast & Dinner.

  • Overnight: Stay in Guptkashi/Rudraprayag.

Day 9

Guptkashi → Badrinath

  • Morning: After breakfast, drive to Badrinath.

  • Travel: Drive ~180 km / 6-7 hrs via Joshimath.

  • Enroute: Visit the confluences at Rudraprayag and Karnaprayag.

  • Evening: Check into the hotel in Badrinath. Take a dip in the therapeutic Tapt Kund and visit the Badrinath Temple for evening darshan.

  • Meals: Breakfast & Dinner.

  • Overnight: Stay in Badrinath.

Day 10

Badrinath → Rudraprayag / Srinagar

  • Morning: Optional: Visit Mana Village (the last village before Tibet), Vyas Gufa, and Bhim Pul. Revisit Badrinath Temple if desired.

  • Afternoon: Begin the return journey, driving downhill to Rudraprayag or Srinagar (Garhwal) for the night halt.

  • Travel: Drive ~160 km / 5-6 hrs.

  • Meals: Breakfast & Dinner.

  • Overnight: Stay in Rudraprayag/Srinagar.

Day 11

Rudraprayag → Haridwar → Chandigarh/Delhi | Drop-off

  • Morning: After breakfast, drive back to Haridwar.

  • Travel: Drive ~150 km / 4-5 hrs.

  • Drop-off: From Haridwar, clients will be dropped at Haridwar Railway Station/ISBT. The tour vehicle will then continue to drop clients at Chandigarh/Delhi as per the package.

  • Meals: Breakfast.

  • Tour Concludes: With blessed memories and divine blessings.
