They say journeys become memorable not just because of the destination, but because of the bond, the road, and the divine energy that touches your soul. On 9th June 2025, I, Akshay Thakur, along with my brother, embarked on one such soulful journey — to the world’s highest Shree Krishna temple, hidden high in the majestic mountains of Yulla Kanda, Kinnaur.

On our sturdy Yamaha FZX, the road ahead wasn’t just a trail—it was a test of spirit, devotion, and love for the Himalayas.

The Route and the Ride

We started early in the morning, as the sun lazily peeked over the Himalayan ridges. The bike roared to life and with our backpacks tied, hearts full, and cameras charged, we began our ascent toward a destination where very few dare to go.

Winding roads, chilling breezes, and the constant view of snow-kissed peaks kept us awake and alive. Riding through Bhabanagar, Reckong Peo, and Lippa, every curve brought us closer to the mighty Kinnaur Kailash range — and deep into a world untouched by modern chaos.

About Yulla Kanda – A Hidden Spiritual Treasure

Yulla Kanda is not just a trekker’s delight but a spiritual powerhouse. It’s believed to be the highest temple dedicated to Lord Krishna in the world, located at an altitude of around 4,700 meters (15,400 ft) above sea level.

According to local folklore, the Pandavas had once stayed here during their exile. A naturally formed rock resembling Lord Krishna’s idol is worshipped by devotees. The energy here — it’s beyond words. The silence, the cold, the stillness — everything feels like you’re standing at the doorstep of the heavens.

The Trek to Yulla Kanda

Reaching the base village, we parked our bike and started our uphill climb. It wasn’t an easy trek — loose rocks, high altitude, and biting cold made every step a challenge. But we were determined. Each breath was a prayer, and every step was powered by faith.

As we reached the top, the first sight of the Shree Krishna Temple, standing alone amidst the clouds, shook us to our core. There were no fancy carvings, no giant domes — just raw nature and a sacred stone, glowing in devotion. That moment, under the vast Himalayan sky, was unforgettable.

Spiritual Vibes and Silence

There were no crowds, no temple bells. Just the sound of the wind, the flutter of prayer flags, and our heartbeat. We sat there silently, praying, thanking, and absorbing the serenity. It felt like Lord Krishna was watching, smiling from the clouds.

The Descent and Return

Coming down was no less challenging, but our hearts were full. We had touched something rare — not just a temple, but a feeling of connection. The ride back felt lighter, calmer. The valleys looked more beautiful, the breeze softer.

A Journey to Remember

Yulla Kanda isn’t just a destination. It’s an experience, a revelation, and a reminder that some places are not meant to be seen — they are meant to be felt.

To anyone reading this: If you love riding, mountains, and moments of peace — this is your calling. Pack your bags, ride strong, and let your soul meet the divine.

🙏 Jai Shree Krishna
